Is this (finally) Indy’s year?
In an article in today’s Indianapolis Star, Brendan O’Shaughnessy writes that it appears that Indianapolis is again a contender for the bid for the 2012 NFL Super Bowl. The city lost the 2011 game to Dallas, Texas.
As an Indiana native, I’m really pulling hard for the city of Indianapolis, which is one of America’s truly great mid-sized major cities. I can think of no better showcase for the city and for the state of Indiana than to host a Super Bowl. With the construction of Lucas Oil Stadium nearly completed and the Colts set to make their home debut this season, the city now has a top-knotch facility that will be a competitor for the game for years to come.
The game has been in places like Detroit, Jacksonville and Houston, there’s no logical reason why America’s game shouldn’t be played in America’s Heartland.
