It can’t be worse than the turf at The Vet…
IU officials are assessing their options today after the artificial turf field at Memorial Stadium was ruled unplayable.
A story from the Associated Press said the field was damaged by heavy rains and strong winds that hit Bloomington last week and may have to be replaced.
This is an ominous start to this season for my beloved Hoosiers, who I will now get to watch (for better or worse) every week thanks to the wonders of DirecTV and the Big Ten Network. Given the loss of the teams’ best offensive and defensive players (James Hardy and Tracy Porter) and the fact that returning starting quarterback Kellen Lewis has yet to be reinstated to the team, it could be a long year for IU.
Let’s hope this isn’t an omen.
